All   of   our   Care   Workers   undergo   rigorous   pre-employment   vetting   including   an enhanced   DBS   check.   The   Disclosure   and   Barring   Service   (DBS)   helps   employers make   safer   recruitment   decisions   and   prevent   unsuitable   people   from   working with   all   vulnerable   groups.   It   replaces   the   Criminal   Records   Bureau   (CRB)   and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). They    are    all    trained    by    Calvern    Care trainers   to   a   high   standard   and   are   fully experienced   in   the   field   of   caring.   Prior   to working   with   service   users   they   all   receive and    participate    in    mandatory        training which   includes   induction   training,   general health    &    safety    training,    moving    and handling     of     people     and     medication management.              They       are       polite, approachable   and   professional.   Our   staff turnover   is   low   and   the   majority   of   our care    workers    have    been    with    us    for between 4 and 10 years. Our   care   workers   wear   tunics   with   the   Calvern   Care   name   embroidered   on.   Each   member   of   staff   also carries   an   obligatory   identification   badge   displaying   their   name,   their   photograph   as   well   as   our contact details in the event further verification is required. Continuing   training   and   development   is   considered   a   high   priority   for   all   Calvern   Care   employees   in which   everybody,   including   the   directors,   gets   involved.   All   staff   undergo   training   and   refresher training in the following areas: Re-ablement Medication Health and Safety Food hygiene Continence Infection control Parkinson’s disease Dementia awareness The Mental Capacity Act 80%   of   our   care   workers   have   either   completed   or   are   currently   working   to   achieve   NVQ   Level      2   in Health & Social Care (now Quality Credit Framework diploma in Health & Social Care).
